N-acetyl-L-glutamine (aceglutamide) is the N-acetylated derivative of the amino acid L-glutamine, in which an acetyl group is attached to the alpha-amino nitrogen. The acetyl group makes the molecule more stable in solution and during heat processing than free glutamine. Nustras supplies it as a white crystalline powder in a vegan grade.
N-acetyl-L-glutamine is formulated into sports-nutrition powders and ready-to-drink beverages, capsules and tablets, amino-acid blends and specialised nutrition products, and it is chosen over free glutamine where the formulation is liquid, acidic or heat-treated. It is also used as an intermediate in pharmaceutical synthesis.
The material is a white, odourless crystalline powder, soluble in water. CAS number 2490-97-3, molecular formula C7H12N2O4, molecular weight 188.18. Identity and assay are confirmed by HPLC or titration against the manufacturer's specification; optical rotation, loss on drying, residue on ignition, free glutamine, heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies N-acetyl-L-glutamine in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Regulatory status of N-acetyl-L-glutamine as a supplement ingredient varies by market; buyers confirm the permitted use, level and labelling for their application.
