L-Proline is a non-essential amino acid, supplied by Nustras as a white crystalline powder in a vegan (fermentation-derived) grade and used as an amino acid ingredient in supplements, nutritional formulations, cell-culture media and cosmetics. Proline is the only common protein-forming amino acid whose side chain closes back onto the amino group to form a ring (a pyrrolidine), and it is one of the most abundant amino acids in collagen.
It is formulated into amino acid supplements and blends in capsule, tablet and powder form, into collagen-type and sports-nutrition formulations, into medical-nutrition and infant-nutrition products, into cell-culture and fermentation media, and into skin-care cosmetics as a conditioning ingredient.
The material is a white crystalline powder, freely soluble in water. CAS number 147-85-3, molecular formula C5H9NO2, molecular weight 115.13. Assay, specific rotation, loss on drying, residue on ignition, chloride and sulphate are standardised to specification; identity and assay are confirmed by infrared spectroscopy and titration against the relevant pharmacopoeial monograph, and heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies L-proline in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. L-Proline is an accepted amino acid ingredient in major food and supplement markets; buyers confirm the permitted use, level and labelling for their application.
