L-Cystine is the oxidised dimer of the amino acid L-cysteine, two cysteine molecules joined by a disulfide bond, supplied by Nustras as a white crystalline powder, in powder, granular and micronised grades, and used as an amino-acid ingredient for supplements, foods and cosmetics. Cystine disulfide bridges are a structural feature of many proteins, notably keratin.
It is formulated into amino-acid and hair, skin and nail-category supplements in capsule, tablet and powder form, amino-acid premixes and sports-nutrition products. In food manufacturing it serves as a nutrient additive and flavour precursor, and in cosmetics in hair-care preparations.
The material is a white, odourless crystalline powder, sparingly soluble in water; CAS number 56-89-3, molecular formula C6H12N2O4S2, molecular weight 240.3. Assay is confirmed by titration or HPLC, identity by infrared spectroscopy and specific rotation, and the material is standardised to specification. Heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies L-cystine in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. L-Cystine is an accepted food and supplement ingredient in major markets; buyers confirm the grade and permitted level for their application. Contact us for grade, pricing per kilogram and lead time.
