L-Citrulline

L-Citrulline is a naturally occurring non-protein amino acid, supplied by Nustras as a white crystalline powder, in powder, granular and micronised grades of fermentation origin suitable for vegan formulations, and used as an amino-acid ingredient for sports-nutrition and supplement products. Chemically it is the ureido derivative of ornithine and an intermediate of the urea cycle.

It is formulated into pre-workout and sports-nutrition powders, amino-acid blends, capsules and tablets and ready-to-mix beverages. The granular grade is intended for direct compression and free-flowing blends, and the micronised grade for fast-dispersing drink powders.

The material is a white, odourless crystalline powder, freely soluble in water; CAS number 372-75-8, molecular formula C6H13N3O3, molecular weight 175.19. Assay is confirmed by non-aqueous titration or HPLC, identity by infrared spectroscopy and specific rotation, and the material is standardised to specification. Heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
