L-Carnosine (beta-alanyl-L-histidine) is a naturally occurring dipeptide formed from beta-alanine and L-histidine, supplied by Nustras as a white to almost white powder to USP grade and used as an ingredient for supplements, sports nutrition and cosmetics. It is found in the tissues of many animals and is one of the imidazole-containing dipeptides.
It is formulated into dietary supplements in capsule, tablet and powder form, into sports-nutrition products, into nutricosmetic products, into skin-care creams, serums and other cosmetic formulations, and into functional foods and beverages.
The material is a white to almost white powder with CAS number 305-84-0, molecular formula C9H14N4O3 and a molecular weight of 226.23. Assay, specific rotation, loss on drying, pH and residue on ignition are standardised to specification; identity and assay are confirmed by HPLC and infrared spectroscopy, and heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies L-carnosine in bulk commercial quantities, in sealed packaging and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. L-Carnosine is accepted as a supplement and cosmetic ingredient in a number of major markets, while its status varies by jurisdiction; buyers confirm the permitted use, level and claim for their application.
